Hey
I am Ilaisa, a singer and vocal coach from Suriname who is bringing her musical dreams to life in the Netherlands.
My journey led me to Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where I earned my Bachelor in Music Education. Alongside my studies, I’m the driving force behind Creatief Kompas, a project that supports young creatives.
In 2022, I took a bold step of faith and returned to live television to sing on "I Can See Your Voice". Despite the nerves and doubts. That leap led me to beautiful new opportunities, like joining the BEAM Worship Band, and opened doors I never imagined. I’m deeply grateful for the journey so far, and it gives me even more joy and strength to keep diving into my musical journey.
Dare to step out—you never know what beauty lies on the other side.

Family
Born into a warm, music-loving family with Surinamese roots, my earliest memories are of singing alongside my mother, Natassa Ghisaidoobe, a gospel artist in Suriname, and my sister Pearl, while my amazing dad prepared delicious Surinamese dishes in the background. Our home was always full of life and music and open to anyone who needed a place to belong. Friends would come by just to hang out, sing, and create together.
With the encouragement of my family, I found the courage to follow my musical dreams all the way to the Netherlands.
I miss them every single day. But even 7,500 kilometers away, their love remains my anchor, and the songs we shared still echo through everything I do.

Suriname
I grew up in the heart of Suriname’s gospel scene, always singing wherever my mom had to perform. I first got noticed on Youth Voice in 2010, and from there, I sang with church choirs and gospel bands all across the country. Whether on small stages or at big events like Carifesta, national voice competitions, or performing at Shalom Gospel Star and Telesur Christmas Concerts, I was constantly immersed in music.
Even at school, I would turn every break into a mini concert, playing music as soon as the bell rang. From the age of 7, I was already putting together little shows for my classmates during recess, encouraging every child to join in and share something they were good at. It was my way of entertaining and bringing people together. From a young age, it was in me. Through all these experiences, I discovered the joy of sharing music that lifts hearts and brings people together.

Journey to... Codarts
As a child, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor. I was determined, so I moved to Belgium to study medicine. But it wasn’t where my heart truly belonged, even though it had always been my dream. It didn't feel like Home.
Then, my aunt secretly signed me up for an audition. Without telling me. The moment I stepped into that room, everything changed. It felt like my heart had found its place. Suddenly, I was faced with the life-altering decision to switch studies, move countries again, and take a huge leap into the unknown again!
It was a scary step, but I took it with God and my family by my side. From that moment, everything fell into place. I went on to study at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where I sharpened my vocal skills while diving into different musical styles. I had the chance to collaborate with amazing mentors and talented peers, all of which helped me grow and shape my artistic vision. Music became my world, and I’ve never looked back since.

I can see your voice
I always sang with my mom BUT...For the longest time, I was terrified to sing in public. I’d freeze if someone asked me, quietly hoping the moment would pass. I couldn’t even listen to recordings of my own voice. I didn’t believe I had what it takes. Deep down, I wanted to sing, but fear kept me stuck in a cycle of silence.
One quiet day at home, feeling frustrated and far from who I wanted to be, I decided not to cry but to grab my laptop. A casting call for I Can See Your Voice popped up. Without thinking too much, I signed up. And then I panicked. What if they actually say yes? And they did!
And there I was, on national TV in the Netherlands as the mystery singer “Dream Hunter.” No guarantees. No safety net. Just faith, a little courage, and the choice to stop hiding. Under the spotlight, I trusted God and myself. And I surprised everyone, including me.
That step changed everything. I felt empowered, free. I realized my story and voice could bless others, and that maybe my light, however small it felt, was meant to shine.
Beam
Taking that bold step to sing on I Can See Your Voice was more than just a performance. That moment of courage opened doors I never expected.
On May 22, 2023, I was invited to share my testimony and perform a self-written song for the first time at EO-Youthday, one of the most powerful moments in my journey. It happened not just because I took a leap of faith, but also because of the incredible people around me who believed in me and cheered me on.
And then came another blessing: the producers invited me to join the BEAM Worshipband. Suddenly, I found myself standing on stages I used to dream about, part of a team where faith, music, and purpose come together. It all began the moment I chose to step into the light.
